When the floating arrow symbols match above your characters on the right, that is when you need to press the identical arrow keys to hit your notes and keep doing it until the end of the song to win, which is how you win in both the story mode and free play mode.
Be careful not to miss notes multiple times in a row, since that leads to you losing and having to start all over again from scratch. We wish you the best and tons of fun!
